POKÉMON - Plush - Sleeping Bulbasaur (Jazwares)

Bulbasaur is a quadruped creature with aqua green skin and darker spots on its body, vaguely resembling a frog or a small dinosaur; it has three claws on each paw, bright red eyes, and two small fangs visible when its mouth is open. Its main characteristic is the bulb on its back, which grows from a seed planted by the mother at birth: the bond is symbiotic since during the day Bulbasaur absorbs solar energy thanks to it (photosynthesis) and the bulb remains active and strong at night. Furthermore, the bulb contains seeds from which the Pokémon derives nourishment. Usually, Bulbasaur walks on all fours, but rarely, it can also walk on two legs.

Many Bulbasaur are domestic Pokémon, raised to be distributed as starter Pokémon by Professor Oak. For this reason, they are recognized as well-behaved Pokémon. Moreover, they are considered easy to train in Kanto due to their strength, good behavior, and their advantage against the first two Gym Leaders, Brock and Misty.

Bulbasaur are characterized by great loyalty towards their Trainer. In the episode The Mysterious Creature, a Bulbasaur was abandoned by its Trainer in the sewers, where it lived for many years. When it finally returned to the surface, it was not at all upset about being abandoned; in fact, it was simply happy to see its Trainer again. It is very rare to find a Bulbasaur by chance.

As seen in the episode The Garden of Mysteries, in Kanto (it is unknown if this also applies to other regions) Bulbasaur gather in a secret garden once a year to evolve into Ivysaur, in a ceremony presided over by a Venusaur. Often, when there is not enough food nearby, it lies in the sun to nourish itself through photosynthesis performed by the bulb on its back.
