INFORMATION ABOUT THE CHARACTER

Thor is a film from 2011 directed by Kenneth Branagh, based on Thor, a character from Marvel Comics who is in turn inspired by the eponymous god of Germanic mythology. It is the fourth film of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and stars Chris Hemsworth as the protagonist. In the film Thor, after showing his arrogance by starting a new conflict with the Frost Giants, he is exiled by Odin and sent to Midgard. While trying to find a way back to Asgard, Thor meets Jane Foster and her team and tries to stop the plans of his evil brother Loki, who has taken the throne of Asgard. The post-credits scene of the film was directed by Joss Whedon.

The Mjöllnir is the weapon of Thor, the god of Lightning and Thunder in Germanic mythology. It is usually depicted as a hammer, although it was originally an axe or a club.

It was made by dwarves or, according to Snorri Sturluson's 13th-century Prose Edda, by the elf Sindri in a contest with the god Loki over who could create the most marvelous weapon for the gods.

Snorri's Edda describes the qualities of Mjölnir by saying that, possessing it, the god Thor: "would be able to strike as firmly as he wished, whatever his target was, and the hammer would never fail, and if thrown at something, it would never miss and would never fly so far from his hand as not to be able to return, and, when he wished, it would become so small as to be kept under his tunic."

Inspired by the eponymous deity from Norse mythology, Thor, known as the "God of Thunder" or "The Thunderer," is the heir to the throne of Asgard, son of the "Father of the Gods" Odin and the "Ancient Earth Goddess" Gaia. Thanks to the powers derived from his double heritage and the enchanted hammer Mjolnir, Thor is one of the strongest and most important protectors of both worlds, a founding member superhero of the Avengers, and one of the most powerful beings in the Marvel Universe.
