CHARACTER INFORMATION

Beatrix Kiddo, also known as the Bride, is the fictional main character of the Kill Bill film series directed by Quentin Tarantino. She is portrayed by Uma Thurman. At about twenty years old, Beatrix joins the team of killers known as the "Deadly Viper Assassination Squad" (DVAS), led by Bill Gunn. Within the DVAS, she adopts the code name "Black Mamba". During her time in the DVAS, she becomes Bill's girlfriend. Bill entrusts Beatrix to a legendary Mandarin martial arts master, Pai Mei, who invented, among other things, a lethal move known as the "five-point palm exploding heart technique," capable of killing anyone within seconds. Beatrix spends a long period training with Pai Mei, becoming an expert in martial arts. Returning to the DVAS, Beatrix resumes her relationship with Bill. During a mission in Los Angeles, she takes a pregnancy test which comes back positive. At the same time, she is attacked by a hired killer (Karen Kim) sent to kill her, who abandons the mission when Beatrix reveals her condition. For the sake of the child, Beatrix decides to make everyone believe that Karen Kim killed her, and moves to El Paso, Texas, assuming the false name of Arlene Machiavelli. She starts working in a record store, where she meets a nice guy (Tommy Plympton) whom she decides to marry. Meanwhile, Bill mourns Beatrix's presumed death for months before accidentally tracking her down. Having learned that she is pregnant and about to get married, Bill shows up at the church during a wedding rehearsal. After an apparently peaceful encounter between Bill and Beatrix, in which Bill seems to reassure her about his intentions, the entire DVAS storms into the church and massacres everyone present. Bill himself shoots Beatrix in the head. The massacre is known as the "Pine Tree Lodge Massacre". When the police arrive at the site, it is discovered that Beatrix miraculously survived, although in a vegetative coma. Beatrix's coma lasts four years. Upon awakening, believing she lost the baby, Beatrix plans her revenge, deciding to kill all members of the DVAS (who in the meantime have disbanded and taken different paths). Before starting her revenge, Beatrix goes to Okinawa to see Hattori Hanzō, a master swordsmith. Hanzō, informed of Beatrix's mission, decides to support her, and besides forging a sword for her, agrees to personally train her.
