INFORMATION ABOUT THE CHARACTER
Budd is a fictional film character from Kill Bill by Quentin Tarantino; he is portrayed by Michael Madsen. Budd is a professional assassin, a member of the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad led by his brother Bill. Like the rest of the squad, he attacks and nearly kills a former colleague, Beatrix Kiddo, at her wedding rehearsal, leaving her in a coma for four years. After the terrible massacre, Budd retired to live a quiet life in the peaceful and deserted countryside of Barstow, Texas, carrying with him the Hattori Hanzō sword, gifted by his brother, engraved with: "To my brother Budd, the only man Bill has ever loved." After the disbandment of the D.V.A.S., Budd became an alcoholic and started working first at a car wash and then as a bouncer at a strip club, no longer in contact with Bill. The reason for their quarrel is unclear. Although Bill visits him, warning him of the looming threat of Beatrix coming to kill him, Budd says that the Bride has every right to seek revenge against them, but he will not make things easy for her. Budd states that it was Bill's twisted nature that set the events in motion, and that for this reason, Hanzo broke his oath by making a sword for Beatrix to eliminate them. That same night, Beatrix tries to kill Budd by sneaking into his camper: however, he promptly sprays her chest with coarse salt, leaving her on the ground bleeding, and injects her with a sedative to prevent her from reacting. Taking possession of her sword, made by Hanzo, Budd plans to make a good sum of money by offering it to Elle Driver for 1 million dollars: she agrees, asking in return for a horrible death for the Bride. Budd does not actually kill the girl but takes advantage of her dazed state to take her to an abandoned cemetery and bury her alive. Just before closing the coffin he says, "This is for breaking Bill's heart," implying that despite everything, he still feels some affection for his brother. After handing over Hanzo's sword to Elle Driver, Budd opens the briefcase containing the money but is attacked by a highly venomous black mamba that the woman had hidden among the cash: the reason for her betrayal is that she cannot bear that such a valiant warrior as Beatrix seemingly met her end at the hands of such a despicable and fallen man. Collapsing to the ground due to the poisoning, Budd dies within minutes.
