CHARACTER INFORMATION
Arya Stark is a member of the noble House Stark, the third daughter of Lord Eddard Stark and Lady Catelyn Tully. Her direwolf is named Nymeria, after the warrior queen of the Rhoynar.
She is a lively girl, so much so that the servants of Winterfell affectionately nickname her "Arya Always-in-the-Way". Unlike her older sister Sansa, she enjoys fighting and exploring new places, wants to learn to use a sword, and compete in tournaments. She is very attached to her half-brother Jon, who encourages her to follow her passions and gives her her first sword, Needle. During her travels, she shows great wit, cunning, and an impressive ability to accept difficult situations. It is said she inherited her fiery temperament from her aunt Lyanna.
Physically, she resembles the Starks more than the Tullys, with a long face, green eyes, and brown hair. Slim and athletic, at the beginning of the story she is often described as having an insignificant appearance, so much so that she is often mistaken for a boy, earning the nickname "Arya Horseface". However, sometimes she is described as pretty compared to Lyanna's beauty, and later in the books many male glances are drawn to her figure. In Braavos, even the Kindly Man says she has a pretty face.
She is left-handed, fast, and skilled. She has learned the basics of fencing according to the traditions of the Water Dancers of Braavos and is able to handle daggers and knives. She has a warg connection through dreams with her direwolf Nymeria and with the cats of Braavos. At Winterfell, she received a noble education and is said to be good at math and an excellent horsewoman. She also shows knowledge of some High Valyrian. With some effort, she also learned Braavosi, helped by the Kindly Man. Arya is curious, quick-minded, and pragmatic.
