The Potens Sword (Buster Sword) is a weapon featured in the Final Fantasy VII Compilation.
This huge greatsword is the iconic weapon of Cloud Strife in the original Final Fantasy VII and is considered one of the symbols of the game itself and the Compilation in general. The weapon is a legacy passed to Cloud by Zack Fair, who in turn received it from his master Angeal Hewley, and it represents the dreams and honor of its owners.
The Potens sword is a sword with a very long and wide blade. The blade is shaped like a right trapezoid with the cutting edge running along the shorter base and the slanted side. In its original design, the blade is smooth, dark gray in color that becomes lighter on the sharpened part. The handle is very long, allowing the weapon to be wielded with both hands, and the guard consists of a thick rectangular piece slightly wider than the blade, with a hollowed interior decorated with five bolts. On the blade, a few centimeters from the guard, there are two large holes arranged vertically, which are supposed to be the slots where materia can be inserted. This weapon design is used in almost all of Cloud's spin-off appearances, including the Kingdom Hearts series, where the weapon is partially wrapped in white bandages.
