Rukia Kuchiki is the current Captain of the Thirteenth Division. Born in Rukongai, the poorest area of the Soul Society, and raised with her friend Renji Abarai, Rukia was later adopted by the noble Kuchiki family. Despite the radical change, Rukia's attitude remained always composed and kind towards ordinary people. Having become a shinigami, she joins the thirteenth division under the command of Jushiro Ukitake. Rukia’s Zanpakutō, called Sode no Shirayuki, is a completely white katana with a ribbon of the same color on the hilt. It is considered by many to be a very powerful ice-element Zanpakutō; however, it is not the best in its field, as that distinction belongs to Toshiro Hitsugaya’s Hyōrinmaru. Sode no Shirayuki is regarded as the most beautiful Zanpakutō in the Soul Society.
