Byakuya Kuchiki is the captain of the 6th Division of the Gotei 13. His lieutenant is Renji Abarai. Byakuya Kuchiki is the twenty-eighth head of one of the four most powerful noble families of the high nobility in the Soul Society. Byakuya is a captain and, as such, possesses abilities far superior to those of ordinary Shinigami. Even among captains, his abilities are among the most feared. His Zanpakuto is called Senbonzakura "Thousand Cherry Blossoms," and releases its Shikai with the command "scatter." The blade then divides into a thousand tiny blades, resembling cherry blossom petals, which move following Byakuya's will.
