Despite being a ghoul, she attends high school and her best friend is Yoriko, a human she cares deeply about. She is afraid of birds and is nicknamed "Rabbit" by the CCG soldiers because of her rabbit-shaped mask. Later, it is revealed that she has a younger brother named Ayato.
