THE SPECIAL DIARIES - Maomao - Trio-Try-iT (FuRyu)

The protagonist of the story, Maomao is a 17-year-old girl raised in a yūkaku, a pleasure district, by her pharmacist father, frequenting the Copper Pavilion, a mid-to-high level brothel. Since she was little, she has shown a strong interest in medicinal herbs and poisons, to the point of conducting several experiments on herself; this has given her a strong resistance to substances such as poisons and aphrodisiacs. After being kidnapped while searching for herbs, she was sold to the Inner Court of the Imperial Palace, becoming a shang-fu, that is, a servant who takes care of the clothing. Later, having saved the daughter of the consort Yuye, she becomes her handmaiden and taster, and begins to carry out various commissioned herbalist activities. She has a small and shapeless body, which, along with the freckles she drew on her face herself, kept her from encountering unpleasant situations in the pleasure district. She is allergic to soba, that is, buckwheat.
