Native of Konoha, the young Minato is described by Jiraiya as a good boy, respectful, and characterized by a strong desire to become Hokage, an aspiration he would achieve, ironically, only one year before his death. He was a student of Jiraiya and was the teacher of Kakashi, Obito and Rin. He was nicknamed the Yellow Flash of the Leaf or Yellow Flash of Konoha for his Flying Thunder God Technique, which allowed him to move from one point to another instantly. He graduated from the Academy at the age of 10, and the person he wished to fight was his own master Jiraiya. He fell in love with Kushina Uzumaki, a kunoichi from the Land of Whirlpools, and had Naruto with her. Shortly after the birth of their son, the Leaf Village was attacked by the demon Fox, summoned by Tobi to destroy it. To protect the inhabitants of his village, Minato decided to sacrifice his own life and seal the demon within his son's body, being the only one capable of countering the immense power of the monster. On the verge of death, he expressed the wish that Naruto would not be seen as a monster, but rather as a hero who had saved Konoha from destruction. However, this wish was not fulfilled, as for twelve years the son was the object of hatred from those who were aware of his secret.
