Gajeel Redfox, also known as Black Steel, is one of the main characters of the series. Initially introduced as an antagonist and an S-class mage of Phantom Lord, he later joins the main guild following its dissolution at the invitation of Makarov. He is also the protagonist of a spin-off manga dedicated to him, Fairy Tail: Road Knight, written and illustrated by mangaka Kyota Shibano. After the dissolution of Fairy Tail, Gajeel joins the Magic Council and becomes the captain of the custody unit, but after Avatar is defeated, he returns to Fairy Tail. Originally, he was a Dragon Slayer born four hundred years ago, who was sent to the future to defeat Acnologia. In the year X793, he becomes the father of Levy's child.

Wendy Marvell, also known as the Sky Priestess, is a young Dragon Slayer who belonged to the Cait Shelter guild but following the events of Nirvana and the battle against Oración Seis, officially joins Fairy Tail. She learned Dragon Slayer magic from her adoptive mother Grandine. Following the dissolution of Fairy Tail after the battle with Tartaros, she joins Lamia Scale. One year after the end of the battle between Lamia Scale and Orochi's Fin, Wendy leaves Lamia Scale and joins Natsu on his journey to find the other guild members and rebuild it.
