Yet, something is profoundly different.
SEGA brings to the FIGURIZMα line a new representation of Ayanami Rei (Tentative Name), a character linked to the Evangelion cinematic saga and recognizable by the distinctive black Plug Suit. The designation “Tentative Name” is not just a simple commercial detail, but part of the official identity with which this particular incarnation is referred to within the cinematic universe of the series.
The figure adopts an apparently simple and composed pose, perfectly consistent with the character’s introverted temperament. Rei stands with her body slightly relaxed, while one hand is raised and the other naturally follows the line of the body.
However, the true aesthetic protagonist of the composition is the black Plug Suit, reproduced through a glossy surface that follows the figure’s shapes. The dark panels are interrupted by thin red, blue, and metallic gray elements, creating a very different contrast compared to the iconic white Plug Suit associated with the original Rei. SEGA has already officially used this color combination for Ayanami Rei (Tentative Name), explicitly describing it as the character wrapped in the black Plug Suit.
The face maintains a restrained and almost impassive expression. The short blue bob frames the red eyes, while the clean modeling of the face tries to reproduce that sense of distance and fragility that makes Rei such a unique presence within the saga.
Next to the figure also appears the green bag seen in the promotional composition, an element that breaks the model’s verticality and introduces a more everyday reference within a design dominated by pilot equipment.
With about 25 cm in height, this FIGURIZMα opts for dimensions larger than many traditional prize figures, allowing a better appreciation of the Plug Suit’s rendering, the slender silhouette, and the small coloration details.
