To use the technique, Vegeta brings both hands to his sides, in the same direction. Then, after charging enough energy, he puts his hands in front of him and fires a very powerful energy wave, which Vegeta claims is strong enough to destroy an entire planet like Earth.

Vegeta uses this technique for the first time during his battle with Goku (in the Saiyan Saga). When the Galick Cannon clashes with the Triple Kaioken Energy Wave, Vegeta sees that the two attacks are evenly matched, but is defeated by the Quadruple Kaioken Energy Wave.

Vegeta also uses the Galick Cannon against Frieza in his 2nd form on Planet Namek. While Frieza attacks Gohan, Vegeta fires an energy blast at Frieza, then charges the energy with his hands at his sides and fires a powerful cannon at Frieza, creating a huge cloud of smoke; however, after the smoke clears, Frieza is seen unharmed.

Much later, Semi-Perfect Cell, having Vegeta's cells, uses the Galick Cannon against its creator, Super Vegeta, but it has no effect.

In Dragon Ball GT, it is used again by Vegeta against Baby-Gohan, although it is blue in color instead of purple.

In Dragon Ball Super, besides Vegeta, this technique is used by Cabba, Future Trunks, and Vegeta's Copy.
